I cannot, for the life of me, stand needles. I know, I know; if you know me at all, a big question mark just popped up above your head. But I can explain!
I realize how ridiculous it sounds, being that I have 10 piercings (8 in my ears, 1 in my belly button, 1 in my lip that was removed no sooner than it was pierced) and 2 tattoos WITH plans for many more in the future, but I have to argue that medical needles feel MUCH worse than "recreational" needles (for lack of a more accurate term).
I have always had an aversion to medical needles. When my baby sister was taking our elementary school shots like a pro, i was bawling uncontrollably. In my adulthood, I've never been able to look at a needle that was about to pass through my skin. When told to look at the needle about to be used, my answer is always the same: "No thank you. If I have to see that needle, I promise you I'll pass out. Please just get it over with." to which some have laughed and insisted I look...unfortunately for them, my patience grows rather thin when it comes to known inflicted pain. I don't usually respond well to the ridicule. lol
When I was in college, attempting to become an elementary school teacher, we did field work at local elementary schools. In order to work with the students, we were required to pass both a background check and a TB test. I got it done for free at the student health center on campus. It was there I learned that each agency (different school districts, jobs, etc.) required their own copy of TB testing. One set of results could not transfer over to another angency. So when our feild work took us to a new school district, I was required to take another TB test. And when I started coaching for a DIFFERENT school district, I had to take another. Then I started working for the state, and they require a TB test upon hiring and that you have one done annually.
I had my 2010 TB Test done this morning. I must say, starting my day late to work and getting poked with a needle that leaves a large, disturbing bubble under your skin is not ideal for a Monday. And it's the state's first 5-day work week in what seems like forever. It's been a rough day...
Here's to everything getting better as the week goes by! Excited for the COHS talent show on Saturday. We have a couple of our cheerleaders participating!! Hope everyone has a happy Monday.
